Turkish Standards Institution (TSE) became the first institution in Türkiye to be accredited within the scope of the Carbon Offsetting and Reduction Scheme for International Aviation (CORSIA).

Management of climate impacts from aviation activities and Carbon Neutral Growth;

TSE became the first organization in Türkiye to be accredited within the scope of the Carbon Offsetting and Reduction Scheme for International Aviation (CORSIA).

CORSIA is a carbon offset and reduction program for international aviation established by the International Civil Aviation Organization (ICAO) to achieve the ICAO's carbon neutral growth (CNG) goal.

In accordance with the requirements of the TS EN ISO 14065: 2013 Verification of Greenhouse Gas Emission Reports standard within the scope of "Verification of greenhouse gas emissions originating from international flights within the scope of Aviation/ICAO CORSIA scheme," our institution was accreditated by TÜRKAK on June 25, 2021 and became the first accredited organization in Türkiye in this scope.”

The International Civil Aviation Organization (ICAO) is a United Nations-affiliated aviation organization that modifies the principles and techniques of international air navigation and promotes the planning and development of international air transport.

"Although CORSIA is the International Civil Aviation Organization's (ICAO) carbon offseting and reduction scheme for international aviation, CORSIA is not the only instrument designated by ICAO to achieve its carbon neutral growth target."

It is a complementary instrument to other measures identified by ICAO to mitigate climate impacts from aviation, such as operational improvements or sustainable aviation fuels.

The CORSIA (Carbon Offsetting and Reduction Scheme for International Aviation) program, which aims to reduce CO2 emissions from international aviation activities by 2020, was approved at the 39th Council Meeting in 2016.

Aircraft operators flying between routes in the list of ICAO member states are responsible for monitoring, reporting, and verifying their emissions caused by these routes.

The Directorate of Environmental Surveillance and Verification is in charge of the verification activities to be carried out within the scope of the CORSIA Program on behalf of TSE. Verification requests can be directed to our Directorate, whose contact information is given below:
