With the proposal presented to the ISO General Assembly in 1968 by Faruk Sunter, the President of the Turkish Standards Institute and ISO President of the period, it was decided to celebrate the World Standards Day all over the world. Since then, the International Organization for Standardization (ISO), the International Electrotechnical Commission (IEC) and the International Telecommunication Union (ITU) have been celebrating 14 October World Standards Day with a joint message.
This year, Turkish Standards Institute organizes an International Standardization Conference within the scope of the 'Technical Assistance for the Development of the Standardization System and Raising Awareness’ project, which is carried out with the co-financing of the European Union and the Republic of Turkey.
Organized on the occasion of the World Standardization Day, the Conference will be held at the Sheraton Grand Istanbul Ataşehir Hotel on Thursday, October 14, 2021, between 10:00 and 16:30.
Representatives of International Standardization Organizations will also attend the Conference online, where industrialists, consumer associations, academics, officials of relevant institutions and organizations, and private sector representatives are invited.
At the International Standardization Conference to be hosted by the Turkish Standards Institution, the participants will be informed about standardization studies in Turkey and internationally.
What is the Technical Assistance for Developing the Standardization System and Raising Awareness Project?
The "Technical Assistance for the Development of the Standardization System and Raising Awareness Project" carried out by TSE with the co-financing of the European Union and the Republic of Turkey aims to expand the standardization studies to 81 provinces by establishing a new system that will bring a professional approach to standardization studies and raise public awareness on standardization by improving its effectiveness, efficiency and stakeholder participation.
Through the online Standardization Platform prepared within the scope of the project, it is aimed to ensure the participation of the relevant parties in the standardization processes.
Within the framework of the Project; Information and Awareness Campaign with the theme of 'Lead the Standards!' is carried out in order to emphasize the importance of the contribution of consumers, producers and universities in the process of setting standards to establish the quality requirements of products and services, and to create new strategies with participatory methods. Within the framework of the campaign, awareness and information seminars are held to reach 2000 people in various cities of Turkey.
