On May 13, 2022, The delegation of the State Service for Antimonopoly and Consumer Market Control under the Ministry of Economy of Azerbaijan visited the Turkish Standards Institution (TSE) to consult on the development of bilateral cooperation, particularly standardization.
In the constructive meeting, TSE President Prof. Adem ŞAHİN stated that TSE is ready to provide all types of assistance in order to activate Azerbaijan's membership in the Standards and Metrology Institute for Islamic Countries (SMIIC). TSE President Şahin also noted that TSE appreciated AZSTAND's efforts to adapt national standards in Türkiye as Azerbaijan Standards, and that the commonization of standards between Azerbaijan and Türkiye would promote trade between the two brotherly countries.
Stating that TSE is ready to provide all kinds of support to AZSTAND's accreditation and strategic plan studies within the scope of the 2022-2023 Implementation Plan signed with Azerbaijan, TSE President ŞAHİN noted that joint certification between the two organizations and technical cooperation between TSE and AZSTAND laboratories should be determined and joint studies should begin,
The State Service for Antimonopoly and Consumer Market Control is the executive body responsible for antimonopoly, unfair competition, public procurement, advertising, standardization, metrology, technical regulation, conformity assessment, accreditation, quality control, consumer rights protection, and consumer market control in Azerbaijan. Institutions providing quality services, such as the Azerbaijan Metrology Institute and the Azerbaijan Accreditation Center, as well as TSE’s counterpart, the Azerbaijan Standardization Institute (AZSTAND), are affiliated with the State Service for Antimonopoly and Consumer Market Control.
